I'm giving up weighing myself 5, 6, or 7 times a day and fretting over the minute to minute change in a tenth of a pound on the scale. I'm giving up chasing the latest fad and instead focusing on good healthy foods and good nutrition. He was chained up and not able to venture more than the distance of his chain. But one look at the rusty, old chain with it's cracked and frail links I knew one simple pull would free him. So I asked his owner why the elephant stayed put. The answer was simply that the elephant had been chained that way from birth and he didn't know any better. Dear Weight Loss Journal, My time! The house is quite for a few minutes. As I sit in my chair I'm aware of my surroundings. It rained last night and I can smell the freshness of that new fallen rain. As I begin to relax and let my muscles release the tension I can hear the sweet song of the birds. As I let the spiritual side of me begin to communicate she's saying simply "do something". Do something. Anything. Just begin. Start eating differently. Pick a program any program but "do something". Begin to move and use your muscles. Any exercise will work to begin. Walk, swim, dance, workout DVD's. DO SOMETHING, you can adjust and change at any time and you will but you must take that first step. You have a spiritual side too, anxious and ready to help, but you must begin. Your weight loss journal is your key to success. Love me, ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Weight Loss Journal, So here I am, in my comfy chair in a quite spot in my home. I look forward to these few minutes each day.... I'm thinking about my body today, how it's transformed into the curves and lean shapes I've imagined. I can look in the mirror and see the shapes of the muscles in my arms. They are not bulky what so ever just sleek and smooth, sexy skin. My buttocks too show a firm shape just below my thin waist area. Every part of my body that I had imagined has come into being. Once I could see in my minds eye what I wanted to see in the mirror then it was easy to begin to take those simple necessary steps to success. Exercise plans that I could actually do and follow somehow presented themselves to me. With my clear vision in place I learned to eat a little more slowly and really enjoy my meals. Good healthy food is now "my friend". The pounds continue to drop off and the outline of my muscles become more defined each day. The sand has a little crust and it crunches as we walk along with the ocean breeze against our faces. I'm in my swimming suit OF COURSE! No cover up either, my arms are swinging along my side with the head up high. My thighs don't touch as I walk and I'm totally enjoying my beautiful body and proud of my figure. The seagulls are doing their daily vigil of the beach hoping someone will bring them food. I love the beach! Love me, ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Weight Loss Journal, As I sit today in my comfy chair for my short session of "focused" meditation I'm concentrating on feeling the emotion. Emotion is the fastest route to my destination. "I love being so thin and healthy. Shopping is a trip, literally. I'm here at the mall and the selections in the store for thin gals like me are endless. I'm almost overwhelmed. I don't know where to start. I've always loved red and have been dreaming too of my little black dress. So my mission today is a little black dress accented in red. The store is busy but not crowded the shoppers are upbeat and I can see the joy on their faces. There's one little old lady here with such a wrinkled face. I remember loving to kiss my grandma as she aged. Her wrinkles consumed her face and were so soft and beautiful to kiss. Anyway this lady reminds me of grandma so beautiful, she's looking for a dress for her granddaughters wedding. I can smell the perfume of another lady but I don't see her. She however in my mind would be an elegant lady, classy and sexy, yet mature in age. The dresses are beautiful I so love the feeling of knowing I can pick them off the hangers and they look just as beautiful on me as they did on the models. I see my perfect dress almost immediately. I know I don't even have to try it on, but I want too I can't wait to see my beautiful thin body in this dress. Oh.... it's adorable. Now to the shoes, I love shoes." Sometimes it's very helpful just to sit back and repeat that to myself a few times, or a few hundred times, until I can feel with my emotions that yes I really can do this. Then it's just taking those baby steps of starting. It's your choice, what choice are you making today? Love me, ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Weight Loss Journal, Don't despair if you've been through a long weekend of celebrating like I have. Something very important to remember about weight gain, especially sudden ups on the scale. You can lose this excess weight as quickly as you gained it. If you've been dieting and then have a few days of celebrating it's easy to lose focus by seeing a large increase in weight, which is then followed by quitting your weight loss program and taking on even more weight. GLYCOGEN! Glycogen is the first source of energy our body stores and uses to function. Glycogen is stored in our liver and cells and comes largely from carbohydrates. Glycogen also needs 3 to 4 ounces of water to sustain it's self in our cells. This is why after having a large intake of carbohydrates we show such a large increase in weight. It's not "fat" it's mostly water, use up this "quick store" of energy and the water is also released and your quick weight gain is quickly lost. I've made my first 10 pound weight loss goal, and now I'm going to reward myself. I'm getting a new hair cut today and a wax job on my brows. Giving ourselves smaller attainable goals and rewarding ourselves in a positive way is extremely helpful in keeping on task on any weight loss goal. This is a good place to be and a time to help them grow. When you feel emotions in your gut that is when they are the strongest. Take advantage of those days, journal a little longer and encourage those emotions to grow, grow, grow. And with just a little encouragement they will snowball and take you a long ways. Gotta go and feed these positive emotions. Look back on events of your life and you'll see that clearly. If you think about being heavy and overweight, even though you don't want that, that's what you get. Dear Weight Loss Journal, So Easter has come and gone and as usual it was a celebration at our house. It was a celebration at a lot of homes. So today is a new day a new sunrise a brand new time to continue our new lifestyle change. Our weight, our bodies are not what we eat for one weekend, no. Dear Weight Loss Journal, Who knew? Research says the average person at proper weight needs 8 - 10, 8 ounce glasses of good clean water each day if you are overweight you need more. To help lose weight try drinking a minimum of 1/2 your body weight in ounces of clean fresh water each day. I.e.: if you weigh 180 lbs. drink 90 ounces of water. I've checked with my Dr. and you should too, but according to her I'm healthy and there are lots of benefits to my drinking plenty of fresh clean water. I'm looking at 40 plus weightloss meaning I'm actually in my 50's. This water and weightloss information is wonderful news for me. Dear Weight Loss Journal, I have to tell you about my great friend and mentor, Mike Dooley author of "Manifesting Change: It Couldn't Be Easier". While listening to one of his audio books driving down the road today he gave me a smashing idea. He talked about himself training for a marathon and how he was getting up at 3:30 in the morning or so horrible hour. Anyway it was very difficult for him to get up at that hour and exercise so he tricked himself into it by saying, "I don't have to run, but just have to get out of bed to go to the bathroom". But once he did get out of bed then it was easier to go for that run and get his training and exercise. This is a wonderful trick for getting up and encouraging yourself to exercise. I think it would work in other areas, like eating start by eating a small amount and tell yourself you can have more if you're still hungry in 20 minutes. In 20 minutes you probably won't need to eat any more. This little trick can help you with walking and weightloss. Walking builds muscle to burn fat, creating serious weightloss. Dear Weight Loss Journal, Today I'm going to spend my 5 minutes of focusing and think about all the wonderful things I will experience as a thin person. #1 I get to buy new clothes, I love shopping and trying on new things because everything fits me perfectly. #2 I love really enjoying and wanting to get out and jog, or hike, maybe ride my bike or perhaps I'll just feel like going to the gym. Dear Weight Loss Journal, You can achieve anything by trusting and imagining like a child. So here's a fun little trick to help you eat less, especially if you're just getting started and struggling. Pretend that you are skinning and healthy like the trainers on the biggest looser, or your favorite actor or actress. When you eat your meals pretend you are thin like them and eat like they do. When planning your activities, pretend you are thin and healthy and do activities that keep you moving. When you look in the mirror pretend your body is perfect and admire and smile at it. Let go of constantly thinking about your weight, stop weighing 3 times a day (I actually did that). Your body wants to be healthy and a healthy weight, so eat like you are your goal weight, start moving more by doing activities you enjoy and then relax, look at yourself as though you are your goal weight and watch your incredible body achieve it. Dear Weight Loss Journal, I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror and said "I love you" and I meant it. I always do that and at first I didn't mean it, I couldn't mean it, not really. So I tried this little trick and it helped me get past the physical things I didn't like when I looked in the mirror. I thought of myself as two different parts. The soul of me that lives eternal life and the physical part of me I see in the mirror. By separating two parts of me I was able to look past some of the physical things about my body that I'm still working on and yet look in the mirror and say "I love you" and mean it. If you're having a hard time loving yourself try this trick it works and once you can look in the mirror and say "I love you" and mean it, it makes your weight loss journey easier then ever! Dear Weight Loss Journal, 40 day challenge. This is super easy and a lot of fun. The challenge is to take 5 minutes each day for the next forty days and visualize how wonderful it is to be
thin and slender.
Really let your mind go, feel it in your body, down deep in your gut. Enjoy the feeling! Feel all the wonderful things you are enjoying in your thin body. New clothes a size or more smaller, and matching new shoes too. Imagine how impressed your friends and family are and experience how it feels as each person first sees your so thin and healthy. Imagine the feeling of being able to do activities like playing outdoors with your child in the yard. Walking or biking, maybe running a 1/2 marathon or more. There are only two rules here, 5 minutes and no more. And imagine as if you are already at your goal and doing and enjoying these things right now. Dear Weight Loss Journal, Remember folks it not just about the words, it's about feeling. If you can feel the positive thoughts you are saying and writing in your gut, then you're on the right track. If it's hard to imagine at first because your weight loss goal seems to difficult, start with small steps and easy to achieve goals. Something like I'm eating healthy today, I'm not worried about tomorrow, I'm just eating healthy today. Even get off the entire idea of weight and fat loss and focus on something in your life right now that IS good. Something you already know and feel in your gut is good. Like I'm really a very pretty or handsome person. I'm good at my job. People enjoy my nature and being around me. After you get to a good feeling spot begin to focus positively on your body. I'm good at a lot of things when I focus and I know I can focus on fat loss and weight loss and be successful. Dear Weight Loss Journal, Thank you, thank you, thank you. It does take some deliberate thought. That is something that I can do and it gets easier each time I do it. I feel much better today then yesterday by taking some quite time to myself and thinking a better feeling thought. Dear Weight Loss Journal, Okay, so today I'm a little frustrated. I have to admit I haven't been spending a few minutes each day to focus my thoughts. I've let them ramble and utter about. Now that I recognize that I can stop and take a few cleansing breaths and focus. Focus such a simple word that brings about such great change. FOCUS. Focus on the pounds that I've lost and how that has made me feel better and look better. I feel better when my husband touches me, just because I have lost a few pounds. Focus on the fact I know it's better for my health. Cancer in overweight people is a big issue, I'm decreasing my risk of cancer by losing even a small percentage of my excess weight. Dear Weight Loss Journal, Oh what a beautiful day. I woke up a few minutes early today and did the most valuable thing I could do for myself. I laid quietly in bed and focused my mind on all the abundance and appreciated all the wonderful things I have in my life. Like: My body, since my focus is on a slender and healthy body, I started there. Now my body isn't where I want it to be, but I stopped and appreciated where it is. For example I do have 2 legs, 2 feet, 2 arms, 2 eyes, 10 fingers and toes. Seriously, this is far more then many people in this world have. I have the ability to do an exercise of some sort each day. I'm able to get out and walk, maybe even jog a bit. I can burn a much higher number of calories by climbing the flight of stairs down to my basement and back up. I have the ability to feed my body good foods. The foods we eat are the fuel our bodies use to function. I can feed myself good foods and I'm the one and only person who has control over what my hands bring to my mouth. I appreciated my powerful mind that has the ability to focus on thinking thin and helping me achieve the body I desire. I also took some time to appreciate my home: For example I was laying in a soft warm bed, a bed that many, many people living on the streets, or in cold drafty homes would love to have. I appreciated the smell of the coffee that automatically started for me about 1/2 hour ago. I love the aroma almost more then the taste. Then I took a few more minutes for myself and focused on my thin and healthy body. No particular weight in mind just a thin and healthy body. I imagined weight loss coming easily to me. I imagined my body consuming healthy delicious foods and how wonderful they tasted. I focused on how my body would consume these foods and use them completely and get rid of any excess calories for me. I imagined, I focused not on what is here today. Feeling good creates a chemical reaction in my brain that release endorphins helping me stay positive and "on track" with my healthy eating habits. Dear Weight Loss Journal, Today a feel good. When I feel good it's a good day for focusing and eating a healthy diet. If my plan is calorie shifting or using a detoxification diet plan, or any other feeling good is my strongest ally. I know where I am right now. I've weighed, looked in the mirror and I know where I am. So that's that. Now I'm looking forward to where I WANT to be. Not looking down at the ground where I'm at, that makes me stumble. I'm looking up, looking forward in the direction I'm going now. This was hard to say at first but I'm glad for the experiences of the past. Those experiences have helped me to make the decisions of what I want now. Something different a healthy slender body that looks trim and fit in a swimsuit! I can visualize that in my mind and I now understand if I can visualize it I can achieve it. When I express positive thoughts and let them sink into my mind and feel them they last for several hours after I've quit focusing on them. Dear Weight Loss Journal, What a glorious day to be thankful. Thankful that I'm healthy and happy, thankful that I'm able to get up and walk on my own two feet. I feel great today, I looked in the mirror and stared deep into my beautiful green eyes and saw me. Yes me. I'm in there and I'm beautiful. Dear Weight Loss Journal, It's a wonderful day the sun is shinning and the birds are singing. I can feel my body releasing the extra weight and I'm thrilled to think about the thin and beautiful body I live in. My clothes are fitting better and better and I can see myself playing on the beach in a beautiful sexy swimsuit. Losing weight is so easy when you know you can. I love eating food that nourishes my body and helps me lose weight at the same time. I love getting out and walking and moving my body too. In case you're wondering I did walk a mile yesterday. Dear Weight Loss Journal, I'm going shopping today in my beautiful "special" store where everything fits so perfectly. Come along. I'm entering my store and as i pull open the big long golden handle I feel the cool air and the sweet yet spicy aroma in the air. The lights are bright with big round bulbs that seem comforting and welcome a nice touch to the atmosphere in the store. The flooring is smooth and I can hear the clicking of my feet as I walk down the aisle. The clothing displays are arranged neatly and the cloths hang so precise and even from the racks. My eyes are first drawn to the reds with a touch of black and some with white. I pull the cutest one of all off the rack and hold it up in front of me in the long mirror. I'm so tall and thin in the mirror and the outfit is darling. I take it into the dressing room which is neat as a pin. No clothing laying around that was deemed not suitable for someone else. The clerks and the other shoppers are friendly and happy. Everyone wants to be there. There are no children in my special store. I slip into the dressing room and of course the outfit is perfect. It slides on to my thin and beautifully shaped body and looks like it was tailor made for me. As I leave the dressing room the shoes, purse and jewelry that match so perfectly and make the outfit complete magically appear. I love shopping in my magic store and I love being thin and slender. I'm so happy that my love handles are gone and I really can lose 10 pounds in a week if I want too! Thank you journal, see you tomorrow. I woke up to the birds singing and the sun shinning. I love being thin and slender. I'm getting stronger each day and my 2 mile run/walk is getting a little more run in it. I love being able to exercise and really enjoy it. Really! I don't care for chocolate. Really I don't, I used to, but one day as a joke I said that, right out loud to my office mates as someone had brought in chocolate again! Anyway everyone laughed and make a big joke of it, well I just kept saying it and now not long after that day I can really go without it quite easily. Today I'm running down my "special" beach. I look pretty hot and I'm doing my run along the water. I've got a beautiful tan and my muscles are strong. My tummy is flat and tight and my jogging clothes look very nice. I'm suddenly an athlete. The weight is falling off of me, more pounds each day. This is the same trip the food I eat takes. Across the tongue down the throat and into my stomach. I'm afraid of the dark and it is a bit dark down here, but wow is stuff happening. Actually stuff started happening long before I got all the way down here. Across the tongue and into the mouth the food I ate today was already beginning to be digested. All those juices in the mouth began chemical reactions the instant my food landed there. My taste buds had a wonderful time with the flavors except that bit of liver taste someone through in. Then down my throat and into my stomach, well more chemical reactions are going on down here, the food is being sorted and used by my body so efficiently today. I know the things I eat will be used to there fullest and nothing will be stored as fat. In fact, because of the high protein and good greens that I love so much, my body is going to be burning belly fat today. I love knowing my body can use up the things I give it. That it can sort out the wheat from the chaff, and work for me to help me be so thin and slender. I love my body! I love me! I love finally taking time for myself and now that I am, funny thing is everything is getting better and better. I'm losing weight and I feel wonderful. I'm doing deep breathing exercises each morning and breathing in a thin and healthy body. Blowing out my breath and imagining the fat cells leaving my body. For good! I love seeing them floating away from me, they begin to turn blue and cold as they float up and away through the ceiling and out of my life forever. I nourish and satisfy my body and enjoy good healthy foods. Foods that my body uses perfectly in digestion. My body uses up all the foods I eat and does not store anything as fat for use later. In fact, my body (by order of me) is burning fat around my middle and my thighs. My body does whatever I tell it in my mind. I live in a beautiful modern home with all the modern conveniences. I have a wonderful husband who is loving and tentative to me. Children with appreciate us as parents. A sweet little puppy who always has kisses for me. I have my mind and the ability to create my reality by focusing my mind on the things I want. What do I want? Well, let me tell you. I have a wonderful healthy, thin and slender body. I love being slender and in shape. I run 2 miles every day to keep my muscle tone strong and my metabolism high. A huge advantage to exercising to lose weight is my bmi (body mass index) stays low because my resting metabolic rate is higher all day long. That's right! Because of the muscle tone from exercising, my (rmr) is higher. Meaning I burn more calories in my daily activities then a person who has less muscle tone. In very plain terms muscles more calories then fat. Build muscle and your body will use more calories in a day. Keeping you thin and slender like me! :) Try keeping a weight loss journal yourself, it will help you focus on the good things you want. Making an entry daily into a journal is a powerful tool to bring good things into your life. You don't need to have a big fancy journal, a simple notebook will work just fine. Yes, even though I haven't been able to "log on" I've been focusing everyday on positive thoughts. Yesterday I had an amazing thing happen to me. Sounds kind of small as I type it, but believe me it was BIG! I'm not very good at accepting compliments and yesterday someone commented that I've always kept my weight down and always looked very nice. WOW! The biggest thing about yesterday was I was actually able to smile and receive that gift. And it was a gift! I'm know you have to feel healthy and slender to be and I'm working toward that. A comment like I received yesterday sure helps to give you a boost. The most effective diet plan for me is a low carb diet plan. I have low blood sugar so after checking with my medical professional like all of you should do, I found that a low carbohydrate diet helps regulate my blood sugar and helps keep my weight down. When I was 16 and first found out about my condition I went on a low carb diet and found out it was a way to lose weight fast. I lost 20 pounds in 30 days and didn't exercise or anything. I was a teen and probably didn't have the best eating habits, but I did find out that for me it was a healthy teenage diet. I ate 100 carbs a day, not net carbs just straight carbs. It was easy to count and easy to follow. Okay back to my journal work here, I'm drifting off of my focusing project. Deep breath.........focus.......focus..... ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Weight Loss Journal, I'm losing pounds every week and it's wonderful. I feel great and my clothes are fitting better and better. The food I consume is used completely by my body and nothing extra is ever stored. Whatever is not needed is released by my body. I exercise everyday even just a little and I always make it fun. Using my journal sparks my imagination and helps me find fun ways to get my body moving. Today it was dance, just simple dance on turned on some oldies and danced for 30 minutes. FUN! Really I do, I've discovered news ways of cooking them without deep frying and they are actually pretty yummy. I've also discovered some pretty cool spices. Cilantro is my new favorite flavor. My neighbor is growing it fresh and sharing with me. I put it on salads, eggs, use it for garnish. Whatever it's great. I enjoy journaling and wanted to share with you that cooking with fresh foods is really exciting, you just need to take a little extra time with it. My body is getting thinner each day and I'm getting in better shape each day too. I enjoy working and love the feeling I get from it. Did you know there is actually a chemical reaction that goes on in your body during and after a workout? Your body puts out endorphins which make you feel great! If you don't really feel like working out, agree with yourself to workout for 10 minutes. If you do that you'll find that you will want to work out longer. That's because it take about 10 minutes for the endorphins to kick in. Just give it a try. I got on the scales this morning, it's a Monday and that is never a good idea. But, I was down 3 pounds it felt great. I say Monday is not a good day for me to weigh because I'm usually my heaviest then and the reason is simple. If you've read my home page you know that I said you need to pick a weight loss program that will fit into your daily lifestyle. My weekend style is a few cold beers on the deck with my best friend. However the Monday thing has been changing lately, by using my journal and focusing on the things I consume being used fully by my body, they are! Nothing extra is being stored as fat. I did spend time on the deck with my best friend. I did enjoy a frosty mug.
